Oil Palm Tree

The oil palms consist of 2 types of the Arecaceae, or palm family. They are utilized in commercial agriculture in the manufacture of palm oil. The African Oil Palm Elaeis guineensis is indigenous to west Africa, happening in between Angola and Gambia, while American Oil Palm Elaeis oleifera is indigenous to  Central America and South America. The common name comes from the Greek for oil, elaion, as the species name comes from its area of origin.

Queen Palm

The Queen palm (Syagrus Romanzoffiana) unquestionably beautiful and also elegant tree. It is very similar to the Coconut palm in physical aspect. The palm is medium-sized and develops to fifty feet tall. It’s a rapidly developing tree, will grow about 1-3 ft each year.

Florida Palmetto is an official symbol of Florida. The most commonly seen plant, palm and tree in the Sunshine States.

Mediterranean Palm

A Mediterranean palm is a small and attractive fan-shaped palm tree. This palm is native to the mediterranean region.
When established it is drought, salt and cold tolerant.
This palm can be used as a focal point in landscape design. It makes a nice indoor plant because of its small size and low maintenance.

Butterfly Palm

A Butterfly palm is often grown as a potted plant, shrub or hedge. It is a widely cultivated ornamental throughout sub-tropics and tropics. Other popular name for this clumping palm is the areca palm.
It is a graceful palm with multiple trunks are topped with feathery, yellow-green fronds.

Coconut Palms

Coconut palms are not cold hardy, they require warm conditions for successful growth.That’s why they are commonly grown throughout the tropics. Generally they occur along sandy shorelines.They can tolerate blackish soils and salt spray.

Coconut palms are sensitive to bacterial and fungal diseases and lethal yellowing. Bacterial diseases: Bacterial bud rot.
Fungal diseases: leaf spot, but rot, leaf spot, root rot.

Coconut palms are susceptible to potassium, magnesium, Manganese and Boron deficiencies.

Phoenix Palms

There are several species of date palms: Phoenix roebelenii (Pygmy Date Palm), Phoenix Dactylifera (True Date Palm), Phoenix Canariensis (Canary Island Palm), Phoenix reclinata (Reclinata palm). They differ from each other, however, they are commonly called date palm trees.

Phoenix Dactylifera and Phoenix canariensis are considered cold hardy palms.They are perfect for landscaping in colder climates.
